The idea came from some very cute DnD art here. I made the wings out of some general cheap foam sheets from your local craft store and glued them together. I made a template and made the first set from tracing the template and cutting manually... And then I gained access to a laser cutter and went much faster making more foam cuts.
And then I got too excited and tried making some bat wing style ones too, with some thin stretchy fabric for a membrane, and some metal in the middle for a more durable core to allow for better shaping and holding it all together. It went... okay?
